Logo JOHN FISHER YORK TOWN TALL CASE CLOCK

John Fisher (1736-1808) York Town Tall Case Clock. Hand-painted face reads John Fisher York Town. Bonnet has a broken arch pediment with carved rosettes, 3 turned wooden finials, and four columns. Dial features moon phase, seconds hand, calendar aperture, floral spandrels, and hemisphere. With eight-day brass weight-driven movement, time & strike. Includes pendulum, weights, and key. The top portion of the bonnet appears to have been added at a later date than original.

Even in his own time, John Fisher of York was recognized for his skills as a clockmaker and artist. Many of his clocks went beyond eight-day tall case clocks and were musical, playing different tunes, and in 1790 he created a thirty-five day clock, now in the Yale University collections.
