Fumio Kitaoka (Japanese 1918-2007) woodblock print of Pompeii 3/100 1971.
Kitaoka trained in oil painting and later became interested in woodblock prints. He studied at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts, the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, and taught at the Minneapolis School of Art and the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. His realism and brightly colored landscapes reflect the early 20th-century Japanese movement known as "Sosaku-hanga" (creative prints).
