This box was brought back from China by Christian missionaries in the 1920s, and sold in an antique shop to the consignor’s grandmother. Leather covered wood, painted with village scenes showing a river with fishermen, and mountains in the background. Brass handles and central double lock with key. Chamber under lid for storage compartment.
